AtomFilms kicked ass. This new focus is just depressing. The film catalogue was amazing. Sorry its gone.

Welcome to the dumbing down of independent film, atom (thanks, MTV.) So stupid and disappointing. You didn't even have to gonads to separate out the non-comedy content into its own project. Film is more than entertainment, it's art; even when the content was comedy I viewed it as film and animation expressions. Now the range of expression to marvel and be intrigued at is gone.

I can't believe that atomfilms is dead. You've thrown away the work of a lot of independent filmmakers. FILM. Not videos. FILM. It was ART. There was NOTHING like atomfilms ANYWHERE on the net. It was unique. It was special. And now? What is it? It's just another joke site, like so many others. So I guess you're going to put up webisodes and special series found only here? Big deal! Everybody does that. So you're related to comedy central and MTV? Big deal. That content is elsewhere too. But, now where are the independent films? They're gone. Dead. Extinct. And why? Because this site, that once was a great forum for independent filmmakers and a great place to SEE rare films has now become just another corporatised b**** for Big Media.

You did your fans a grave disservice. I have no reason to come here now. I can get my chuckles on youtube and googlevideo and a hundred other places. I came here for the ART. Now, I'm through.

Atomfilms used to be like that mom-and-pop truckstop that served the best home cookin' anywhere. Now it's just another cheap, dirty McDonald's. It used to be art. Now it's just another piece of garbage on the information superhighway.

Atomfilms is dead. I pray to God this current monstrosity will follow.

Well, as you can see, all the comments about your little surprise are negative. Even us fans who love the comedy shorts love the other genres also! That said, I have no objection to Atom having a comedic focus, if that pays your bills, but the new setup is quite confusing. You say that the non-comedy films have been discarded. Since I couldn't quite believe you would just get rid of a non-comedic work of genius like Run Wrake's "Rabbit" I searched for a while and finally found it in other. So you do have things besides comedy! You just made them very hard to find if you don't know the exact title. Could you perhaps just clean up your "other" category a bit so us non-comedy lovers can find stuff without scrolling through thousands of videos?

Wow. Im dissapointed to see such a wonderful site reduce itself down to just another silly web site dedicated to nothing. Not such a great decision and like all good things they must come to an end I guess. I just wish this site would have gone out in fashion!

Smart move shutting down Atomfilms while Atom.com is still in BETA MODE and barely works. I hope the tech guy is getting fired soon.

What a terrible decision to cut everything except comedy. You had viewership that really enjoyed variety - the thought-provoking shorts, the dramas and yes the comedy. I would tell people from all walks of life about Atomfilms - from my dentist to my mother. I certainly wont do that now. It seems it is just about catering to the lowest denomination. I agree with everyone else on this post that you've sold out a wonderful site. I won't be coming back.

I feel like this site did itself and its fans a real disservice for getting rid of all things considered not to be comedy. There were some great movies on here and should not be trashed. If this site doesn't drop this new image, they should at least create a space for those who come here for films and shorts, funny or not. I loved this site and used to visit daily. I'm sad that this is how art has come to be treated. If I wanted stupid humor, I'd have gone elsewhere.

You have sold out and ruined this site. Comedy is my favorite form, but what gave atom films some class was that you could find more artistic work here--not just pass-the-beer, fart jokes, Laff riot stuff.

And the visual appearance of the new site is horrible. It looks like a high school student's blog now.



And what happened to the sound quality?

Finally, I hope you guys realize that there is a problem with your "comedy only" business model. The main one being is that your competitors have the jump on you. You heard of Adult Swim, right? Robot Chicken? Hello?

Where can we find the non-comedy movies you have removed? Is there somewhere else we can go? They were the real gems that kept me coming back to atomfilms...

Goodbye, folks. AtomFilms was a goddamn bastion of imaginative, creative independent filmmaking. Yes, the comedy films were solid, razor sharp, but so were the dramatic pieces, the horror pieces, the moody animated shorts. To sacrifice all that, just for comedy is damn waste and an insult to the viewers who didn't come here for laughs and the filmmakers who crafted the non-comedic shorts. Nice going, idiots, and good riddance.

Even though I almost exclusively watched or downloaded comedy I'm going to miss AtomFilms and will be looking for a replacement.
